Satellite Communication System Evaluation

This paper evaluates the performance of Satellite communication system. Different data modulation techniques are tested and analyzed to select the optimum modulation scheme. Different channels as AWGN, Rayleigh and Rician channel models are implemented and evaluated with various channel estimation techniques as, Least Square (LS), Least Square-Modified (LS-Mod) and Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) methods. We also consider different antenna systems starting from the conventional single input single output (SISO) Tx/Rx system, and then going to single input multiple outputs (SIMO), and multiple input single output (MISO) and finally introducing Multiple input Multiple output (MIMO) systems. The system is simulated in MATLAB and analyzed in terms of Bit Error Rate with Signal to Noise Ratio. The simulation results had shown the performance of transmission modes under different channel models and the number of antennas. KeywordsWireless communication, SNR, channels.
